“Early Childhood Education in a Digital Age” an event organised by Deakin University in collaboration with PCHE at the New Wing, Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 7 was held on the 5th of September, 2024. One of the core pedagogical approaches highlighted during the event was Deakin University’s commitment to play-based learning. The speakers emphasized that, despite the increasing integration of digital tools, play remains at the heart of early childhood education. The program reinforced that while technology can be a valuable tool, it should not replace traditional hands-on play-based methods that foster creativity, problem-solving and social development in children.
