Monash is a modern, global, research-intensive university, delivering education and research excellence in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific. Our vibrant and diverse community of 86,000 students, 17,000 staff, and more than 440,000 alumni are working together to create real change. We also have an expansive global reach with three international teaching locations, six campuses, and more than 100 partner universities.

We are a member of the Group of Eight, an alliance of leading Australian universities recognised for their excellence in teaching and research. Group of Eight universities produce graduates who find full-time employment sooner, begin on higher salaries, and are more likely to move onto postgraduate studies than graduates from other Australian universities

As Dean of the Faculty of Education, I am delighted to introduce you to our faculty – one of the world’s leading Faculties of Education situated in one of the world’s most liveable cities. We are ranked number one in Australia (Academic Ranking of World Universities, 2021) and 13th in the world (QS World Ranking of Universities by subject 2022) and our passion is for wanting to have impact, to make a positive difference in the lives of others, through education and through counselling and psychology. We share this passion with our vibrant alumni community, with research partners as well as with stakeholders in the professions and society more generally.

One of the ways we make a positive impact is nurturing the next generation of educators through a range of accredited teacher education programs. We are pleased to partner with Prospects College of Higher Education in Sri Lanka to offer students a pathway to study our Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood and Primary Education. This degree is accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). Graduates will be able to teach infants and children from birth to 12 years of age in childcare, kindergartens, preschools and primary schools.

In a changing world, teachers have never been so important. They play a critical role in helping children prepare for their future, equipping them with skills they need to become successful members of society and the leaders of tomorrow. Our university believes that there’s never been a time or a greater need to make change. Whether you want to change your life, your career, your community, or the future, it starts at Monash. Join us in the Faculty of Education and leave the world in better shape than you found it.
