Graduates of the PCHE Diploma in Early Childhood Education can pathway directly into the Monash University Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood and Primary Education if they meet select entry requirements. This is made possible through a new partnership between Monash University and Prospects College of Higher Education (PCHE). Graduates of the Monash bachelor’s degree will be qualified to teach in both early childhood and primary education settings in Australia.

 

How it works

 

Students enroll for the Diploma in Early Childhood Education at PCHE, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

On successful completion and achieving a 70% average, and meeting English and Mathematics prerequisites, students can transfer to Monash University, Melbourne, Australia and enroll for the Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Early Childhood and Primary Education.

Entry requirements

 

Satisfactory completion of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education awarded by PCHE with a 70% average. How we calculate your scores: Overall average of all marks as awarded on the official final academic transcript issued by PCHE, Sri Lanka. Evidence of successful completion must be provided. Score grades as follows: A = 90, B = 80, C = 70, D = 60, F = 30. All subjects awarded on the transcripts must be graded and not competency based.

 

All applicants must meet English (Australian Year 12 equivalent) and mathematics (Australian Year 11 equivalent) prerequisites. English language requirements may also be satisfied by submission of a Monash approved English test and achieving the required scores.

All applicants for the Bachelor of Education (Honours) must sit Casper, a non-academic requirement for many of the initial teacher education courses in Victoria, Australia. Casper is an online, open-response situational judgment test designed to assess an applicant’s personal attributes and suitability for teaching

 

Job outcomes 

 

There is a considerable and growing demand for early childhood teachers throughout Australia. Graduates of the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education degree will be eligible for teaching positions in early childhood and primary education sectors, where they can expect to earn approximately AUD 60,000-72,000 per year.
